Geologist, community leader, and lifelong explorer of the natural world. Husband to Shari, dad to three grown kids, grandpa to two, and human to a dog named Porter. As a geologist and co-owner of Upper Canada Stone Co., I’ve spent my career working with the land, studying its history, and supporting responsible use of natural resources in our region.
I also serve as the volunteer Chair and resident geologist for the Niagara Geopark, a registered educational charity working toward UNESCO Global Geopark status for the Niagara Region.
Geoparks celebrate areas of internationally significant geological heritage and are managed as independent, grassroots organizations focused on protection, education, and sustainable development. There are currently 229 UNESCO Global Geoparks worldwide and five in Canada — Niagara is poised to become the sixth, and the first in Ontario. I’ve been part of this initiative for the past 6–7 years, helping guide its vision, partnerships, and scientific foundation..
When I’m not studying rocks, you’ll likely find me in the sky — a private pilot with my plane hangared at CYSN — or traveling with my wife, cooking one-dish meals, or chasing new adventures (including my hobby of riding a unicycle). Sipping Spirit of choice: Mezcal.
